Production.7 - Hand in Part.3

Today I have my production hand in. I will meet the deadline and plan to create a title screen in iDVD today along with a DVD case cover.

If I have any spare time I will go back on my paperwork to get ready for my complete compiled hand in, due in the next coming weeks.

Production.6

Half term has come to a close and I have been working hard to create my re-mastered animation.

I have been working throughout half term using college resources and coming in to the premise.

The good news is that my animation is complete. I filmed with a XM2 camera and enhanced my set and went through with all of my planed steps.

I am happy with my product and today I will go ahead and use After Effects and Soundtrack Pro to accompany my visuals; with the addition of sound and special effects I will hopefully complete my production to a near professional standard.

Production.5

I have decided to go ahead with my remastered version to achieve a near professional standard finish.

The things I intend to specifically target this time around are;

1. Colour correction
2. The set Sun - Add a Lens flare and various effects in AE.
3. The set Grass - Add depth to my grass making raised cut outs to stick to the floor.
4. Shadow - I will use a professional lighting kit to shine on my set to create shadow on the grass and my rabbit’s features.
5. Quality - Use a HD camera to shoot the project for a much better finish.
6. Change product – Change my Easter egg to a chocolate bar "Twirl" and have it fly in the sky and land in his mitts, then eat it.

I will begin rearranging my set today, as well as cleaning my rabbit of chocolate. I intend to slightly remodelling him for my next shoot with more flexible arm joints.

Production.4

My animation is complete but I feel that the finished sequence is lacking quality.

I have been working hard today to accompany the soundtracks I have made and the SFX I have recorded for my project. It went well and the overall process creating sound was an enjoyable experience. The learning curve was very comfortable when working in Soundtrack Pro and found it rewarding for my project.

However even with the combination of my bunny with sound it still didn’t feel professional.

I screened my project to Gareth Day and he pined pointed the run time and how I was short 10 seconds.

Half term is approaching and I am seriously considering doing a remastered version of my piece. I would work on the flaws I have encountered and create a polish finish; showing both my original work and my improvement in the remastered.

This would cover the 10 seconds I am missing and satisfy my urge to go back and improve on my idea and work on the flaws. Hopefully working through half term ahead I could complete my remastered version at a near professional standard.

Production.3

I have successfully completed my first scene and will continue today to work on the remaining 20 seconds.

I feel that I am finding things I could improve and incorporate each step of the way. However hopefully with the aid of After Effects and Soundtrack Pro combined I will create my vision as planned.

I am currently working at 12 FPS and taken 486 frames. Today I hope to finish my animation so I can start working on post production additions. I have decided to dedicate more time to this project; working in my lunch hour and Wednesday afternoons.

Production.2

My background is complete and my bunny is ready to come to life. I bought an Easter egg earlier in the day and planning to shoot my first scene; this scene has my rabbit approach the egg and inspects it.

I have not managed to this date to book a HD camera because of the bookings. However I have booked a camera; today I will be using a Mac and software "I Can Animate" following my storyboard closely to achieve my desired finish.

Production.1

This week i decided to touch up my current progress. I started the afternoon neatening up my blog page, as well as some paper work.

However I spent most of today starting my production. I decided that i wanted a set for my project and created that with coloured card and scissors. At this point I have created a Sky, Grass, Clouds and the Sun.

I felt this method of producing my set would achieve a nice cartoon feel with nice bold bright colour to target my audience.

Planning.4 - Hand in Part.2

Half term has finished and looking back on my current progress I would say I am working on target.

I have decided how to create my character and what I want it to look like. Now I need to think of its surroundings, sound and draw up storyboards I can use in production. Luckily over the half term break I completed a set of storyboards and other necessary tick boxes listed on my brief.

Today is the planning hand in and I will work on touching up any work and adding pieces I am missing by the end of the day.

Planning.3

I decided this week that I would make my character waddle. This decision made it easy to select my character from my sketches.

Now it was time to plan how I would transform my sketch to life in stop motion. I decided this week to plan how to build my character.

So far I have decided I will hand make my armature and make my bunny with modelling clay.

Planning.2

Today I took into account some of the problems I might encounter in production. I originally planned today to finalise my character from my sketches. However I decided that from the character sketches I had a fundamental problem.

This problem was whether I would make my bunny rabbit hop with the help of Gibb; then mask out the Gibb in post production software such as After Effects. Or if I would make static feet for my bunny and make him waddle, adding a quirky cartoon style.

Planning.1

Now that I have successfully pitched my stop motion idea; it was time to plan its creation. Today’s plan of action is creating some character sketches that hopefully show character development.

I plan to use these sketches to help decide a final bunny rabbit character.

Pitch.1 - Hand in Part.1

Today I pitched my idea to Gareth Day in the green screen room. I felt confident with my Easter stop motion theme; I did my best to propose my thoughts and ideas in my pitch with some visuals to help.

Animation Project + Pitch plan

Animation was originally a topic I hadn’t been looking forward too. However that changed when I began to learn about Stop Motion and finished a piece of written work for this unit.

I found out about a lot of techniques on how they create animation through research. This got me more interested in the subject; I particularly enjoyed Peter and the Wolf.

Now I have been given a project to create my own animation. I am really excited to create my very own animation sequence; I intend to use the very same style as Peter and the Wolf, Stop Motion.

So far I have built on my initial ideas and plan to pitch to my lecturer. I have started compiling sketches and ideas on paper.

My pitch date draws near and I intend to steer away from the typical PowerPoint presentation method. I want to draw a nice big picture of my character when I finalise my idea and talk about it.

I will use the library resources to study the topic to provide a confident pitch and jot down some storyboards to use as visual ads.
